We're upgrading the barn!
We’re thrilled to be working to upgrade the Fair Mount Barn to better serve the community. It currently serves a Fair Mount Farm Stand’s home base and market hub. In addition we also offer cold storage and aggregation to services to regional farms and food businesses. Past and current users include Quills End Farm, Tinder Hearth, Triple Chick Farm, Peak Season, Sparkplug Farm, and DownEast and Blue Hill FarmDrop.
Jean Hay-Bright built the barn in the 1980’s with the brute force (aka helping hands) help of the late Dennis King (co-founder of King Hill Farm in Penobscot). They operated Hay’s Farm Stand here, until 90’s when it became Hancock Organic Growers farm stand.
We’re upgrading electrical, insulation, siding, sills, upgrading the second floor, and constructing a 30 x 60 year round greenhouse (a Harnois Hi-Top for all you greenhouse and covered ag buffs) that will connect to the back of the structure and serve community food hub, retail, event and farm production needs regionally.
Check back here as we announce our fundraising campaign, and please keep us in mind for end of year (or anytime) donations.
